Obama threatens (promises?) that if we don't get healthcare "done" this year, it won't get done.
Perhaps Mr. Obama figures that eventually a critical mass of Americans are about to start hearing the crashing noises of his fiscal trainwreck. He knows he can only keep the monetary floodgates open for so long, and then he's going to have to surrender the keys to the printing presses. If we don't get the impossible dreams started right away, Obama reasons, an awakened (and unemployed/indebted/impoverished/overtaxed) public isn't going to be quite as receptive to them later.
But one thing's for sure: That "now or never" crap -- that's just BS. The libs will never stop clamoring for their precious perpetual motion. And just as opportunistic Dems will never stop promising it, there's no "deadline" on national healthcare. If it doesn't happen this year, they will simply try it again next year -- or next term or next time, or next "go-round." But they will never stop, because you cannot eradicate ignorance.
Galt, I agree with your points on this. Your description re: next "go-round" is apt. Just finished reading about the Barbary Plague (circa 1900) and a movement pushing national healthcare at that time. The Republicans have gotten ensnared in the social engineering matrix and have yet to figure a way to extricate themselves from the sticky mess. When it's looking all too bleak I remember that it only took one court case from a small business owner to get the National Recovery Act abolished. I suggest we all keep close watch on the Supreme Court and "the rule of law".
