This is nonsense.
Cheerios does not become a drug just because the food claims to do some things that are also done by drugs. You have to remember that drugs are just concentrations of things found naturally in -- well, among other things -- foods. We should expect that foods and other substances will have these effects -- often this is how the drug came to be isolated and identified in the first place. Unless you want to suggest that General Mills is actually putting drugs into Cheerios, that's just a non-starter.
Whether the health claims about Cheerios are fraudulent is another matter. And if Big Brother has a problem with that, then he should address it as such. As it stands, this situation is an abuse of power.
In my opinion the country is being kept in a constant state of distraction, diffusion and disinformation to a purpose. It doesn't matter if it's Cheerios or Quaker Oats, the tactic and strategy is to continually keep the fire moving and spreading, never allowing enough time to respond and extinguish one spot before the next flare up is started someplace else. The next flame can be in healthcare this minute, the banks the next, the car industry right after. And the big plan keeps the forest smouldering, building toward the firestorm.
To my mind this government came to power through careful and extensive use of information gathering and processing (aka community organizing). Gather data, feed data, assess data, respond, gather data, feed data, reassess..broken down community by community, voter bloc by voter bloc until critical mass was achieved. Cheerios are a measuring tool for reaction to "change" (as is Gitmo among many others). How many recognise the continuing attack in this as against not only business but individual freedom? The answer is being weighed and scored right now. I hope the answer is that there are still too many not taken in by all the smoke and mirrors.

This is a FTC problem, not a FDA problem.
