House Energy and Commerce has enough Blue Dogs to vote the healthcare bill out of committee. One of the compromises reported by Fox News "would cut the cost of the $1 trillion-plus package by $100 billion." That's a hundred thousand millions out of a million millions plus. Big savings to you and me.
The good news is an understanding that this won't make it to the House floor until after the August recess. That means the full vote won't occur till members have had a chance to gauge reactions from their constituents.
Meaning that this would be a really good time to start, well, reacting.
Could someone please provide me with directions to Galt's Gulch?

Something that has been going over in my head recently is, what is the best reaction right now? I'm not in the situation of the majority of people who probably read these posts (I'm not an American citizen or resident), so perhaps I'm missing an obvious avenue. But for my benefit and just in case, for anyone else's, what are the precautions to be taken to secure the prosperous future of America?
I can imagine writing letters and being the reasonable and logical voice to friends and family is the place to start - but there has to be something more to be done. I really don't want to see America go "tits up" ... for some of us, comparably, America is the closest reality to that of Galt's Gulch there is.

I think it's along the lines of writing letters and making phone calls to one's respective representatives, and of course airing that reasonable and logical voice to friends and family who vote, hoping that they will write letters and make phone calls, too.
Politicians usually get some feedback when they come home during recess. They'll be getting an earful this time.
