Maureen Dowd gets extra credit for making this incredibly rational observation despite being a flaming liberal:
If we can’t catch a Nigerian with a powerful explosive powder in his oddly feminine-looking underpants and a syringe full of acid, a man whose own father had alerted the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria, a traveler whose ticket was paid for in cash and who didn’t check bags, whose visa renewal had been denied by the British, who had studied Arabic in Al Qaeda sanctuary Yemen, whose name was on a counterterrorism watch list, who can we catch?
Don't take her quote on face value. Libs only speak out when they are so embarrassed they have no place to find. They aren't against one of their own, but can't find any spin to work around the issue. They went after LBJ over Vietnam so it would go away, but went after Nixon who was trying to end it. I would hope by now that everyone can see that libs can't solve any issue. However, conservatives have shown that they are willing to take a back street to anyone who fixes issues so they don't get their hands too dirty. Libertarians play on both sides. Only producers get anything done.
